DeWine is 73, and has been on the gun ban bandwagon ince 1966, a total of 54 of his 73 years. So it is understandable that DeWine would look at a week when 21 people were murdered, blame all those guns that roam the streets looking for someone to kill, aqnd squeal “We Got To DO Something.”
Unfortunately, the restrictions De Wine wants have a 525 year history of abject failure. If the proposed laws actually did what DeWine and the gun ban industry claime, cut crime and make people safer, we would need restrictive gun laws.
Even if restrictive laws did nothing one way or the other, they might be worth a look. But with 68,306 failed gun laws on the books since 1495, and no successes at all, restrictive gun laws are the last thing a sane person wants.
Of course, there are gun laws that work. But they are not restrictive laws, they are permissive laws. Laws that allow concealed carry of a defensive weapon without permission from the State, for example. Laws that help make crime a sufficiently dangerous that potential criminals will find a job, if they have to make a career in the military their job.

Over the same period of time, Ohio’s homicide rate was stable at just 3.1 to 3.2 murders per 100,000 population, slightly lower than the national average for every demographic. As gun control took effect, the murder rate rose to 5.3 per 100,000 population in 1968, to 8.9 in 1974, and for 2017, when social and ecomonic indicators show the homicide rate should be down to 2.5 in 2017, came in with the homicide rate at 6.4 per 100,000.
And Mike DeWine, gun ban industry activist, wants to tighten gun laws and drive Ohio’s homicide rate as high as 15.
Tell him no, when he comes begging for four more years of using the Governors office as a bully pulpit to impose legislation that hurts citizens and taxpayers and helps criminals.
