Wisconsin: Wausau Mayor Bans Firearms At Polls

Gun Rights

On October 30th, Mayor Katie Rosenberg of the City of Wausau issued Executive Declaration No.7, banning firearms from polling places on election day. This prohibition does not even exempt concealed carry by licensed citizens. The declaration does, however, specify that the restriction cannot be applied to designated parking areas if firearms remain in vehicles.

This declaration only calls for signs measuring at least 8.5” x 11” to be placed at entrances of polling places to notify people of this restriction, without taking any proactive measures to prevent criminals from disobeying. This arbitrary gun-free zone only disarms and inconveniences law-abiding citizens, while not improving public safety.
