Oregon: Anti-Gun Omnibus Bill Going to House Floor

Gun Rights

Today, the House Ways and Means committee voted to approve House Bill 2005 A, the anti-gun package requested by Governor Tina Kotek and Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, now combined into one bill. It will now go to the full House for further consideration. If the House passes HB 2005 A, it will not have to receive a policy committee hearing in the Senate before going to the floor. Please contact your lawmakers and ask them to OPPOSE HB 2005 A.

House Bill 2005 A is the amended version of House Bill 2005 that also includes the provisions of House Bills 2006 and 2007. It goes above and beyond existing federal laws and regulations in restricting private individuals from making their own firearms for personal use, denies Second Amendment rights to young adults aged 18-20 by prohibiting them from possessing semi-automatic firearms, and further weakens Oregon’s preemption law in order to allow localities to prohibit concealed carry in public buildings and on their grounds.

Again, please contact your lawmakers and ask them to OPPOSE HB 2005 A.
